Short Loans Section

The Short Loans Section consists mainly prescribed texts, recommended readings selected by your lecturers for your courses. The objective is to ensure that as many people as possible obtain access to the available material.

DVDs and CD Roms covering all subject areas are also kept here and may be viewed by individuals on level 5 or a group viewing by arrangement.

Short Loans Section Circulation Policy

Books on the Short Loans Section may be used for one hour inside the Library. Where multiple copies are available, books may be borrowed overnight from 2pm during the week and from 12pm on Fridays. A maximum of two items may be borrowed.

What do I need in order to use the Short Loans Section services?

Present your student card to the Short Loan Section staff, together with any of the following details of the book or article: author, title, and/or call number.

Library Drop zones

The Main Library has installed two drop zone facilities to allow students to drop off books before the library’s opening times. The drop zone for regular items is situated next to the entrance of the Library. The drop zone for short loan items is at the Short Loans Desk side and is clearly marked. Daily and weekly newspapers are available in the Malangatana Reading room just past the turnstiles at the entrance.
